Peyronie's surgery
Surgery, but only if you need it
Most men with Peyronie's never need an operation. For curves that still make sex difficult, surgery can straighten the penis. Your full assessment shows which group you're in, and which operation would suit you.

Do you need surgery?
Non-surgical first, almost always
Surgery is usually considered once a curve has been stable for several months and still gets in the way of sex. Prof. Raheem will tell you honestly if you can avoid it.
Surgery is worth discussing if
- Your curve has been stable for at least several months
- It makes sex difficult or impossible
- Non-surgical treatment hasn't helped enough
- You have a severe curve, a deep dent or an hourglass shape
Start with non-surgical treatment if
- Your curve is new or still painful
- Sex is still possible, just less comfortable
- You haven't tried treatment yet: see non-surgical treatment
The options
Three ways to straighten
Which one suits you depends on the size and direction of your curve, your length and the quality of your erections. Prof. Raheem will explain the trade-offs for you.
Plication
Stitches on the longer side straighten the penis. Simple and reliable, with some loss of length.
Plaque incision and grafting
The plaque is released and the gap covered with a graft. Better for preserving length in bigger curves, with a higher risk to erection quality.
Penile implant
For men who also have weak erections: an implant restores firm erections and straightens the penis at the same time.

Questions
What men usually ask
Will surgery make my penis shorter?
It depends on the operation. Plication can cost some length; grafting is better at preserving it. Prof. Raheem will explain what to expect for your curve before you decide.
How long is recovery?
Most men go home the same day and return to desk work within a week or so. Sex usually waits around six weeks. You'll get exact advice for your operation.
What are the risks?
As with any surgery there are risks, including some loss of length, changes in sensation, weaker erections and the curve coming back. Prof. Raheem goes through every risk with you before you decide.
Can I avoid surgery?
Most men can. That's why your assessment looks at every non-surgical option first.
